Florijn takes world title in single scull for Olympic champion Twigg

Karolien Florijn has won the world title in the single scull in the Czech Republic. The 24-year-old Dutch was in the lead from the start and expanded her lead in the final phase. Olympic champion Emma Twigg from New Zealand also had to acknowledge her superiority and finished second at 2.5 seconds, ahead of Tara Rigney from Australia.

Florijn had already recorded the best time in the semi-finals and won gold at the European Championships in Munich last month with great force majeure. Earlier this year she won two World Cup competitions with a big difference. The skiffeuse is the daughter of two-time Olympic champion Ronald Florijn and the German former rower Antje Rehaag. At last year’s Olympics in Tokyo, she was part of the four-without, with which she won silver.
