Florian Wirtz to FC Bayern? BVB manager Kehl is making people sit up and take notice

Bayer Leverkusen’s super talent Florian Wirtz has long since drawn the attention of all major international clubs. The 20-year-old is certainly one transfer shelf too high for Borussia Dortmund. BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl can imagine FC Bayern making an advance on Wirtz.

“He is an extraordinary player. He will certainly be a player that FC Bayern will look into,” said Kehl in the football talk “Sky90”. “We in Germany can only be happy that we have such players.”

The “kicker” recently reported that, contrary to rumors to the contrary, Wirtz could become a hot topic for the German record champions next summer. In Munich, all players except Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Harry Kane would be put to the test. Wirtz could then become part of the possible upheaval, the trade magazine wrote.

The playmaker is currently shaking up the Bundesliga with Bayer. The lead of the undefeated league leaders over FC Bayern is currently four points. However, the Munich team still has the catch-up game against Union Berlin (January 24th, 8:30 p.m.) up their sleeves.

BVB honors Bayer Leverkusen’s achievements

“In the last ten years people have only talked about BVB as number two. We look at Leverkusen and say: ‘They’re doing very well at the moment,'” said Kehl. “Basically, I think it’s good for the Bundesliga if the title fight is exciting.”

With 15 points behind Bayer and eleven points behind FC Bayern, BVB is no longer within striking distance of the top duo. Instead, coach Edin Terzic’s team faces a tough fight for the Champions League places.

Good from Dortmund’s point of view: The competitors VfB Stuttgart (1:3 at Borussia Mönchengladbach) and RB Leipzig (0:1 against RB Leipzig) lost their games at the restart at the weekend.
