After his collapse on the pitch, Edoardo Bove says he is doing well. The professional from Italy is fighting – and wants to return to the pitch.

Two weeks after collapsing during a Serie A game, Fiorentina winger Edoardo Bove has spoken publicly for the first time. “I’m fine and that’s the most important thing!” wrote the 22-year-old on Instagram. At the same time, he thanked the world’s support, which had given him “incredible strength and courage.” The positive messages helped him stay calm and not feel alone.

On December 1st, Bove suddenly collapsed during the game against Inter Milan. Cardiac arrest was diagnosed. After receiving medical attention, the player received an implanted defibrillator and was discharged from the hospital a few days ago.

In his post, Bove already announced a comeback: “We’ll see each other again soon… on the field!” However, this project is subject to reservations. If the defibrillator remains permanent, Bove’s career in Italy could end. In Serie A, the regulations prohibit the use of players with implanted defibrillators.

A similar case occurred three years ago with the Danish international Christian Eriksen. After his cardiac arrest at the 2021 European Championships and the implantation of a defibrillator, Eriksen had to leave Inter Milan. However, the midfielder continued his career and now plays in the Premier League for Manchester United.

How and where things will continue for Bove remains unclear. His health will continue to be closely monitored as his future in professional football is examined.
