FC Barcelona is a wild duel in the first cup semi-final against Atlético Madrid. But the team of ex-national coach Hansi Flick makes mistakes in the end.

FC Barcelona with coach Hansi Flick played a good starting position for the targeted cup final in Spain in a spectacular game against Atlético Madrid. The leader of the Primera División first turned the semi-final first leg in a 4-2 lead after a 0-2 deficit, but had to be satisfied with a 4: 4 (3: 2) after two goals in the final phase.

The day after Flicks 60th birthday, Barca fully slept down into the game. Julian Alvarez (1st minute) and Antoine Griezmann (6th) initially ensured a lightning start of the guests and punished the hosts of the hosts ice cold. But the Catalans answered with a double strike by Pedri (19th) and Pau Cubarsí (21st). Before the break, Flick’s team took the lead through Inigo Martinez (41st).

After the change of sides, Barcelona continued to dominate, but made two serious mistakes in the final phase. Atléticos Marcos Llorente (84th) remained unattended in the back room, then suddenly three Madrilenen stormed on Barcelona’s goal, then ex-Leipziger Alexander Sörloth (90.+3) even saved Atlético in a wild cup fight.

The second leg in Madrid will take place on April 2. In the second semi-final duel, Real Madrid will compete at Real Sociedad San Sebastian this Wednesday.
