Fleur Agema is quite pissed off about statements that Wouter de Winther has made. She finds it under the belt and even speaks of character murder. “Yes, this is crazy. He knows it’s not right.”
After seventeen years, Fleur Agema did not make itself available again as a PVV MP. She sat at the table last night Pauw & De Wit To tell about that. Host Jeroen Pauw confronts her at some point with statements that Telegraaf journalist Wouter de Winther has done about her in his podcast.
Bipolar Fleur?
Wouter states that there is a lot of gossip about Fleur at the PVV. “I already heard that during the past few weeks they had not received a letter of registration or whatever. You also heard in PVV circles that they did take into account that it was going to happen at the last minute,” because with bipolar people you never know. “
Fleur really thinks that is a very silly suspicion. “Yes, this is crazy. A Wouter de Winther knows that that is not true, that that is not true?”
“Does he come up with it?”
Jeroen asks Fleur if she thinks Wouter comes up with this or that it really comes from the PVV. “But would he, because he is a reputable journalist for De Telegraaf, you think so?”
Fleur: “Well, there will certainly have been someone in the PVV area who said this and that is of course also a reason for me not to go through anymore. Of course I have to go with my own people who have a relationship of trust and if you are then fell so ridiculously, yes, that is not possible of course.”
‘It’s not true’
Jeroen finds it striking. “You say it’s one of the reasons not to go through, so you hear that yourself, things like that?”
Fleur: “No, I didn’t hear it and it is not true either. I find it difficult as a former Minister of VWS, because there are also people who suffer from it and also have a difficult life sometimes with depression and things that of course never bother me. I always get cheerful in the morning.”
“It is a reason for me: if I am not safe in my own club, then of course I will not continue with them.”
Sensation
Jeroen thinks that answer. “And you no longer feel safe in your own club?”
Fleur: “Well, when you hear this.”
Jeroen: “No, but okay, this is Wouter de Winther, that’s not necessarily your own club.”
Fleur: “No, but it seems to me that he doesn’t come up with it. I think: he knows that it is not. Then it is about the clicks, I assume. It is sensation. It is not the first time the Telegraaf has done something like that. I find that also difficult.”
Character murder
So Wouter acts out of sensationalism, she thinks. Jeroen on that: “Yes, well, that De Telegraaf or Journalism is looking for sensation, that may be obvious in some cases, but at the same time your party does that of course just as well, right? Then you are also busy bringing in or achieving as many people as possible, or not?”
Fleur: “And then everything is permitted? Then such a character murder is permitted? Of course not.”
Jeroen: “Do you find the character murder?”
“Come on, guys!”
Yes, Fleur answers. She thinks this is very false of Wouter and De Telegraaf. “Of course. I am already gone and then it is De Telegraaf again, because they often do in my direction that I think: come on, guys, what is this?”
Jeroen: “Is the character murder of De Telegraaf or of the people at the PVV who now bring it out?”
Fleur: “It is both. I think Wouter de Winther also knows that it is not, so he didn’t have to bring it either. At the same time there is something or someone in that area who says something like that. Very idiot.”
