The fair season – she can look forward to it all year long. A friend of Fleur once described the fair as a traveling circus. “The fair may be in a different village every week, but the entire festival moves along every week.”
“It’s actually very simple,” says Fleur cheerfully. “We like to go out on the weekend. That is our motivation. Then we see where the fair is in the area. That is usually the most fun.”
Sometimes she goes out with a small group of friends, sometimes the group is more extensive. “Every year we meet new people.”
Back from holiday earlier
Oostwoud, Bovenkarspel, Hoogkarspel, Wognum, Venhuizen, Nibbixwoud, Midwoud, Wervershoof, Abbekerk, Onderdijk – Fleur was there, often even several days a weekend. Her favorite fair? “Midwoud anyway, that’s our ‘own’ fair. I like that one the best of all.” Nibbixwoud and Wervershoof are also regulars for her. “You see a lot of acquaintances there, which makes it extra fun.”
Most fairs are within cycling distance. “But sometimes we go by car, if someone is the BOB,” Fleur explains further. For the fair in Wervershoof, Fleur even returned earlier from a holiday in Spain. She can usually be found there at ‘t Fortuin. “The music is good there and you can eat well there. Well done.”
