The CDU is in the middle of the election campaign – also with Fler, more precisely with a video clip of the Berlin rapper telling a legendary club story, back then on the “waslos” format with host Rooz. But Fler is less enthusiastic about the advertising campaign.
In 2018, Fler told the camera about the energy he feels when he enters a club. The CDU has now taken snippets from this video and discussed energy policy in a reel on Instagram.
The CDU’s latest advertising stunt
In the opening sequence, the rapper notes, “Shit, the energy is gone,” as someone enters the VIP area. The compilation from the CDU then shows 32-year-old Philipp Amthor. He uses Fler’s clip as an opportunity to talk about his party’s election program. The election clip ends with another clip from the Berlin musician: “No matter what is here, the energy must never go away.” A statement that refers to a club, but the CDU reinterprets it – with a certain cringe factor.
The post received mixed reactions on Instagram. While some celebrate the rapper-politics duo with comments like “How cool is that hahhaha”, “Give your marketing a bonus, that was sickly good” or even “I don’t like your politics, but that’s gold”, Some people find the video rather annoying. The focus is not only on Fler’s involuntary appearance, but Philipp Amthor’s part also gets caught in the crossfire. Comments like “Good propaganda for those who still think everything used to be better”, “100% cringe” and “Union story time! But the Brothers Grimm were better!” adorn the comments section of the post.
And what does Fler say about that?
Fler, on the other hand, initially reacted a little more calmly. He reposted the post without comment and then referred to threads related to the post. He asks why German parties are increasingly including the rapper in their advertising without asking. “I don’t want to come across as sensitive, but it also drains my energy,” writes the 42-year-old, adding: “I’m not even a CDU voter.”
However, Fler appeared more annoyed to “Bild” than he first let on. According to his own statements, the rapper was “very angry”.
He vents his anger on Instagram and writes: “I think I have to go by and knock. That will not do!”
