Metehan Baltacı, whose name was mentioned within the scope of the betting investigation carried out by the Turkish Football Federation, made a statement to the public. In his post, the young football player acknowledged his past mistake and stated that he stopped this behavior as soon as he realized that the situation was incompatible with the principles of football.
Baltacı made the following statements in his statement:
“I would like to inform the public correctly after my name was mentioned in a disciplinary process carried out by the Turkish Football Federation. Until today, I have always tried to exist on the field with my effort, determination and struggle. I have tried to act with a sense of responsibility towards every club and its fans whose jersey I wore.
Years ago, I made a betting transaction without realizing the seriousness of the issue. Afterwards, I ended this situation because I thought that this would not suit the sportsmanship stance. I would like to point out that this transaction was not related to the matches of the teams I played for.
I am an athlete who trusts in the justice of football and I believe that this truth will be revealed as soon as possible. I am very sorry that my name has come to the fore with such an issue. “I would especially like to point out that from now on, I promise in front of the entire football public that I will be more careful in every aspect of my life.”
