Another facility for the Biancocelesti. This is the idea of the owner, who presented the pre-feasibility plan for the renovation. But he is not the only one on the table: “Roma swimming? We are on the side of the administration”
To see Lazio move from the Olimpico to the Flaminio it will take “at least three years. But we will do everything we can to speed up the process”. Biancoceleste president Claudio Lotito is sure of this, speaking thus at the end of the meeting in the Campidoglio in which he presented the pre-feasibility project for the renovation of the club’s possible new stadium.

If he had already shown confidence after the summer summit with Gualtieri (in which the first draft of the expansion project was presented), this time Lotito is sure of it: “We are not just building the stadium of Lazio, but of the city of Rome” . The reference is to the Flaminio, one of the historic sports facilities of the capital, which the Biancocelesti want to make their new home. “It will be used by Lazio to redevelop it in terms of traffic, acoustics, greenery and initiatives for the people who live in the quadrant for an investment of around 400 million euros. They appreciated the work we have done and which highlights the desire to redevelop the Flaminio while safeguarding what the architectural value is, but above all the sector in which it resides”. Not just the stadium, then. The company’s intent is to create a new area in which to transfer the Lazio fans on match days, during which “the restricted traffic zones will be closed. There will be a shuttle to also enable people coming from outside Rome to enter the stadium And it will be a pedestrian area. Even Nervi’s nephew (the architect of Flaminio, ed.) appreciated the intervention which does not distort the architecture but protects it people. Now there is a bureaucratic process to respect, we will proceed step by step, we will present the official request”.
the other project

Lotito’s idea envisages a new capacity for the Flaminio (from 25 to 50 thousand seats), total coverage of the steps and new car parks in the area. However, it is not the only plan for redevelopment. Alongside Lazio, there is that of Roma swimming, on which the Biancoceleste president expressed himself thus: “We have documented ourselves, we have had our discussions to avoid having problems that could slow us down. We are on the side of administration, our approach is to renovate this asset which is the only stadium in Rome made exclusively for football and which, when it was built, was a flagship.”
