Benfica announce transfer fee
The 25-cap Brazil international Éverton returns to his homeland after two years at Benfica and will go on to score goals for Flamengo Rio de Janeiro. The Portuguese record champions officially announced the departure of the 26-year-old, who came from Gremio Porto Alegre in 2020 for 20 million euros, as part of the transfer from David Neres. The winger signed with the “Rubro Negro” until the end of 2026.
Flamengo made Éverton one of the most expensive signings in Brazilian Série A history with a base fee of €13.5m. Only five players, including Alexandre Pato and Carlos Tévez, cost more. With bonuses, the sum can according to Benfica officials even rise to €16m, leaving only Éverton’s future team-mate Gabriel Barbosa (€17.5m) ahead of him. The Lisbon-based company also secured a resale participation of ten percent.
Éverton, who still had a market value of 40 million euros in 2019, was not lastingly happy at Benfica. He scored 15 goals and 18 assists in 93 competitive games, but his market value gradually fell to just 15 million euros.
