Last weekend, a fishing competition in the USA saw quite a catch, when the crew of the Sensation vessel, which participated in the competition, caught a female sailfish weighing 280 kilograms.

It took more than six hours to get the giant fish on board.

The crew already had time to air the 3.5 million dollar prize pool from winning the race, but the jury ultimately decided otherwise.

– Looks like a shark has bitten this fish, competition champion Tommy Bennett said after seeing the fish.

According to the International Sports Fishing Federation, a fish is not eligible for the competition if it has been mutilated before being raised, in which case it may be easier to catch the fish.

On Sunday morning, the race organizers announced that the fish caught by Sensation’s crew would not be accepted for the results.

Thus, the prize of millions of dollars went to the crew of the Sushi ship. It picked up a fish of about 220 kilos, which was about 60 kilos lighter than Sensation’s catch.

However, Sushi’s prize was only 2.77 million dollars, because a full pot should have caught more than 226 kilograms of catch.

Sensation’s captain Greg McCoy according to him, his crew did not cheat and believed that the fish was within the rules.

– This is a tough piece to chew, McCoy lamented.

The record fish of the competition has weighed as much as 415 kilograms. This wonkale was bred in the 2019 race.
