Vishandel Eursing in Beilen must find a new home after thirteen years. The company’s fish cart is still on the site of Garden Center Rudolphus, but the judge has decided that the cart should no longer be there.
The so -called environmental permit of the fish trade, necessary to be allowed on the Rudolphus site, is withdrawn by the court. The reason for this is the odor nuisance caused by the cart for local residents, the judge states.
The municipality did not investigate that nuisance well enough when the permit was granted. That is why it is now being destroyed by the judge.
The judge imposes the municipality of Midden-Drenthe to come up with a new decision about the fish cart within twelve weeks. In the meantime, the owner of Vishandel Eursing, Marita Sloot, is in uncertainty. “The judge’s decision that we must close came totally unexpected.”
“We should now close the tent immediately, but we got some extra time. We don’t have to close immediately,” says Sloot. She doesn’t know how long that delay takes. “That can take two, four or six weeks.”
It is still unclear where the fishing trade then moves. The hope is that the cart can get a new place in the municipality. “But that will take a while and I also have to maintain a family. You will be on the street.”
