First words from King Charles about cancer

The King sends his heartfelt thanks.

King Charles has commented on his cancer diagnosis for the first time since it became public.

Buckingham Palace announced last Monday, February 5, that the king has been diagnosed with cancer.

Now the King of Great Britain commented on the matter in a written statement.

– I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and well wishes I have received in recent days, says King Charles.

– All those who have been affected by cancer know that such benevolent thoughts bring the greatest comfort and encouragement.

In his statement, 75-year-old Charles reflects on his decision to make his illness public.

“It’s equally encouraging to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped to promote public understanding and highlight the work of all the organizations that support cancer patients and their families across the UK and around the world,” Charles writes.

Charles underlines how he admires the work of medical professionals and cancer organizations.

– My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is even greater because of my personal experience.

Charles did not reveal what kind of cancer he has. The public has also not been told about the degree of spread of the cancer or what kind of treatment Charles is receiving for his illness.

King Charles’s statement was covered in the news, among other things Sky News, Guardian and Independent.
