First official activity of 2022: Queen Elizabeth cuts the cake the day before her anniversary | Royalty

RoyaltyQueen Elizabeth already made an advance on Saturday for her 70th anniversary of government on Sunday. At the Sandringham estate, the 95-year-old British monarch had her first official activity of the year. During a reception she received volunteers and members of the local community, and because of the festivities, cake was a must.

The Queen was invited to cut the cake. The text was rotated in such a way that it was clearly visible to the photographers and video journalists present. Elizabeth didn’t care when it was explained to her. “I think I can read it upside down too,” she laughed. Then the queen took out a knife to start cutting. “I think I’ll just stick the knife in there… Then someone else can finish it,” it sounded.

It’s only the first time that Elizabeth has gone public this year. According to British media, she looked good and chatted with everyone present. The Queen carried a walking stick and wore a diamond brooch on her light blue dress. She used a cane in public for the first time last October.

The British Queen has also received a lot of mail from the public on the occasion of her 70th anniversary in government. Buckingham Palace announced on Instagram on Friday that the 95-year-old queen is enjoying the cards, letters and artworks that people have sent her.

In the photos shared by the royal family, the queen smiles at some of the letters in front of her. In one of the photos, Elizabeth is sitting with a special fan in her hands. This paper folding is the fan presented to Queen Victoria in 1887 when she was on the throne for fifty years. The fan was a gift from the then Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The fan is signed by friends and relations of Victoria.

Elizabeth will celebrate 70 years on the throne on Sunday, February 6. The festivities have been postponed to summer due to the corona pandemic. June’s events include a Trooping the Color parade, a live concert from Buckingham Palace and a special service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
