Now it’s time: After finishing third last year, the DFB team wants to triumph in the Nations League for the first time. But the defending champion is waiting in the final. The live ticker for the game.

The tension is rising: Germany will host world champions and defending champions Spain in the first leg of the Nations League final.

The DFB selection of national coach Christian Wück wants to create a good starting position for the second leg next Tuesday (6.30 p.m.) in Madrid in front of almost 40,000 spectators in the Fritz Walter Stadium in Kaiserslautern. For Germany it is also revenge for the European Championship semi-final they lost in Switzerland in the summer (0-1).

You can follow the game live in the ticker here.

19th minute of play – The next German chance: Bühl wins the one-on-one against Ona Battle, moves to the left into the penalty area and shoots from an acute angle. But Cata Coll is there.

18th minute of play – This is the first yellow card of the game: Spain’s Laia holds Jule Brand in midfield during a potential counterattack situation. Referee Demetrescu warns the midfielder.

15th minute of play – Now then Spain. Rebecca Knaak deflects a cross from Pina for a corner. But the standard brings nothing for Spain. Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger is blocked in the DFB penalty area, but the ball can still be cleared.

14th minute of play – Gwinn hits a cross from the right high into the penalty area. But Spain’s goalkeeper Cata Coll is there and intercepts the ball.

12th minute of play – The team of national coach Christian Wück clearly determines this initial phase. The DFB team repeatedly provoked the Spaniards to lose the ball in midfield.

8th minute of the game – Anyomi is used on the left again, this time by Klara Bühl, who passes through to her. But then she collides with an opponent – and has a foul whistled against her.

5th minute of play – That was the big chance to take the lead: Nicole Anyomi is sent steeply against Spain’s Irene Paredes after winning the ball in midfield, the attacker runs on the left into the Spaniards’ penalty area – but instead of passing back into the middle of the penalty area to two teammates who were also running, she plays to the far post. And unfortunately there was no player wearing the German jersey.

3rd minute of play – The DFB team plays straight forward: Lea Schüller makes her way into the Spanish penalty area, but then loses the ball there and cannot finish.
