Several cars burned out in Assen and Coevorden last night. Fireworks played a role in two of those fires.
Two cars went up in flames on the Pijlkruidstraat in Assen around 4 a.m. A window of one of the cars was smashed and fireworks were thrown inside. This caused a fire, which also damaged the car parked next to it.
A car also caught fire on Giffenstraat in Coevorden around 4 a.m. That fire got worse when the fireworks in the car went off. The fire was extinguished, but the car was lost.
The car was close to a house, which suffered minor damage.
