Fireworks at away game: Heavy fine for PSV and duel without away fans

PSV is not allowed to bring supporters to the first away match of the upcoming football season. The club will then compete against Vitesse on August 19. The KNVB punishes the club from Eindhoven because fans set off “a considerable amount of fireworks” at the away match against AZ at the end of May, the football association announced.

According to the disciplinary committee, PSV has not been able to sufficiently demonstrate that it has taken all necessary measures before, during and after a match to prevent disorder.

The club will also be fined €11,000.

The competition starts for PSV on Saturday 12 August with a home game against FC Utrecht. A week earlier, the team that won the KNVB Cup will compete against national champions Feyenoord in Rotterdam for the Johan Cruijff Scale.
