For the victims of the LA fires, Billie Eilish sang with Green Day “Last Night on Earth” as a duet.

The fireaid beefiz concert in Los Angeles was able to come up with surprises even in its star cast. So Green Day brought an unannounced guest onto the stage.

“Last Night on Earth” as a duet

The punk rock band played a duet with Billie Eilish. The pop artist was actually announced with a solo appearance in the later course of the evening, but surprisingly stepped in front of the audience earlier. Together with band front man Billie Joe Armstrong, she then sang the Green-Day song “Last Night on Earth”, first in 2009 on the album 21st Century Breakdown. In its refrain, it says to the donation goal of Fireaid: “If i loose everything in the fire / i’m sending all my love to you.” The revenues of the evening benefit the victims of the fires in Los Angeles. Billie Eilish was present for the second stanza of the song, after a hug Green Day continued her set alone.

Important show for Green Day

“This is one of the most important shows we have ever played,” commented Green Day in advance the Fireaid project. The musicians, also from California, cited their connection to Los Angeles as the reason for this: the band had recorded several albums in Hollywood and perceived the city as a “second home”. “We have been coming here for 30 years, so it is very important to us to contribute our part,” said Billie Joe Armstrong. The singer also found during the performance: “Los Angeles, we are behind you whatever happens.”

Fireaid: Donations for Los Angeles

Two concerts took place as part of Fireaid. In addition to Green Day and Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Olivia Rodrigo, Sting, Stevie Nicks and Gracie Abrams played over two arenas. The benefit event in Inglewood in Los Angeles County collects donations for people together with the Annenberg Foundation who are affected by the fire -fighting fires in Los Angeles since the beginning of January. The fires are now largely deleted or under control, but previously huge areas including entire neighborhoods burned. Several hundred thousand people had to flee, 27 dead are registered.
