Fire truck on its way to an emergency crashes into a tree

A fire engine on its way to an emergency crashed into a tree in Nuenen on Thursday evening. The firefighter behind the wheel was unharmed.

The Advisor on Hazardous Substances (AGS) of the fire brigade was on its way to a report in Nuenen as a matter of urgency. Shortly before half past eight he hit the pastor’s mast off the road and hit a tree. Due to the deploying airbags, he escaped unscathed.

Shortly after the accident, he was picked up by the police. The agents still brought him to the report at the Friesland Campina factory on the Gulberg in Nuenen. There, an employee had been sprayed with a hot, corrosive liquid. The worker was seriously injured. He was immediately put in the shower by colleagues. The emergency services then took over the care of the victim. The employee was taken to hospital with burns.

The firefighter was checked by paramedics on his return to his bus as a precaution.
