A fire broke out in an empty building on the Noordveenkanaal Noordzijde in Nieuw-Weerdinge this afternoon. The fire caused considerable smoke development.
Despite the fact that the building is hidden between trees and shrubs, the fire brigade was able to quickly get the fire under control and prevented the fire from spreading. Because the building is empty, the fire brigade is allowing it to burn out in a controlled manner.
There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
