On Sunday morning a fire broke out in a building on the Hoofdstraat in Schijndel. Eight labor migrants live in the building and there is an Egyptian restaurant. According to the fire brigade, no one was injured, although the rumor was initially that this was the case. The cause of the fire is unknown.
The fire is raging in a wooden extension on the first floor. According to Buren, residents of the building – with suitcases and all – were outside when the flames struck out of the building.
The fire was reported around eight o’clock. Fire brigades from Schijndel, Sint-Michielsgestel and Veghel have been pulled out.
At half past eight, one of the fire brigade teams had already returned to the barracks and the signal Brand Master was given. A platform was no longer necessary at the time. Ambulance staff who were also engaged did not have to take action.
