A fire raged on a balcony on Dapperstraat this afternoon. As a result, the apartment suffered a lot of damage. Two people were checked by ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation.
“The fire was very intense for a moment with flames spreading,” a fire brigade spokesperson said. “But in the end the situation was quickly under control.”
The Salvage Foundation, an organization that provides first aid to victims in the event of calamities such as fire, has assessed the damage. The residents are assigned temporary housing. It is not known when they will be able to return to their own homes.
It is still unclear how the fire started, according to the fire brigade the fire probably started on the balcony.
