Fire broke out in the high-rise building – the fire brigade looks after several residents

A fire broke out in a high-rise building in Berlin’s Schöneberg district late Monday evening. The cause of the fire is still unclear.


An apartment on the 10th floor of a 19-storey high-rise building on Lietzenburger Straße caught fire, as the fire department announced on Twitter. The apartment was fully engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived.

Several residents were able to leave the apartment in time and unharmed. Nevertheless, seven people had to be brought to safety by the fire brigade. According to BZ information, there is at least one injured.

The operation with firefighting, control and ventilation lasted about two hours. About 100 firefighters were deployed.

Nothing could be said about the cause of the fire. Martin-Luther-Strasse and Lietzenburger Strasse were completely closed for around two hours.
