Fire brigades in Enkhuizen fight during national competitions

A great spectacle today at the Krabbegat lock in Enkhuizen. The fire brigade there was not really concerned with an incident, but with the national fire brigade competitions that were held there.

In the Krabbegat lock a gas explosion on a ship was simulated with lotus victims. The firefighters had to show their best side. A jury assessed the firefighters individually and as a group of a station.

These competitions are organized every year. Practical situations are then simulated as realistically as possible. All elements of the firefighting profession can pass. So it’s not just putting out a fire.

In today’s final, six fire teams faced each other. Two from Gelderland, one from Rotterdam, two from Brabant and one from North Holland. They compete together for the first place in the main division.

Team building

The competitions don’t just test the firefighters’ skills and give them feedback. They can also look at the work of other brigades and it also contributes to team building of the fire brigades.

The winner of the competition was the fire brigade from Waardenburg. Their firefighters also received individual awards.
