Fire brigade itself in trouble after extinguishing an attic fire in Nieuw-Roden

A fire brigade water truck got stuck in the mud along the Veldweg in Nieuw-Roden this morning. This happened after the fire brigade was called around 8.30 am to extinguish an attic fire in a house on the same road.

When the fire was extinguished and the fire brigade wanted to turn back, the water truck got stuck in the mud. To get things moving again, the stored water was pumped out of the vehicle, but that provided no relief. A tractor had to be used to get the vehicle out of the mud.

No one was injured in the fire. The fire was quickly brought under control. Paramedics checked one person for possible smoke inhalation, but a hospital visit was not necessary. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
