Three men who were allegedly involved in an explosion in Antwerp on Friday night were arrested a short time later in Nieuwendijk. This is reported by the Antwerp police. The three crossed the border into the Netherlands in Brecht and were arrested near Nieuwendijk.

The explosion happened shortly after two o’clock at night at a house on Kistemaeckersstraat, in a neighborhood not far from the Antwerp station. After the explosion, a fire broke out and the residents were able to extinguish the fire themselves. Two people had to go to hospital for a check-up because they had inhaled smoke.

The Antwerp police had passed on the description of the getaway car and the suspects to the police in the Netherlands. According to the Antwerp police, the attack may have been related to drugs.

Two other suspects were arrested shortly after the explosion. The house has been the target of attacks before, writes the VRT.
