Kalle Koljonen made it to the quarterfinals at the European Games. PDO

Badminton player Kalle Koljonen advanced to the quarterfinals at the European Games when he defeated the Azerbaijani in the quarterfinals Ade Resky Dwicahyon. Koljonen beat Dwicahyo directly in two sets with scores of 21–18 and 21–14.

Koljonen was very satisfied after the match.

– Today the match was pretty much under control, except for the beginning of the first set. There was a clear plan and there was really no need to change tactics at any point. The opponent kept trying to win the game in the same way, and that suited me perfectly, Koljonen commented in the Olympic Committee’s press release.

Tomorrow, Koljosen will face the best badminton players in the world, when he will face the winner of the gold at the Tokyo Olympics Viktor Axelsen. Koljonen goes to challenge the Olympic champion with confidence.

– Resistance is very possible, but don’t start humiliating, Koljonen says.

Good setups for shooting finals

The fairy tale Mäkelä-Nummela shot third in the trap shooting qualifiers. Finland Nora Antikainen is in the competition after the first day of qualifying in fourth place.

Mäkelä-Nummela and Antikainen both shot a score of 72 in the qualifiers. The winner of the qualifiers Jessica Rossi shot a clean streak of 75.

Mäkelä-Nummela is best remembered for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she shot for Olympic gold in a historic way. The second qualifying and finals of trap shooting will be shot tomorrow.
