The eight-year-old girl has not been able to go to school for months because there is no place in a support facility

Disillusionment for Finnja (8) and her mom. The girl, who suffers from ADHD and autism, was not offered a place at school when she made her appointment with the youth welfare office.

Her mother had high hopes for the meeting. Nicole G. (34): “The appointment was just about Finnja getting a new clerk.”

After her daughter’s integration into a regular class failed, Finnja was released from compulsory schooling. Since August she has been homeschooled by her mother as there is no place in a support facility.

Alexander J. Herrmann (46), CDU MP for Kaulsdorf and Hellersdorf, knows the problem: “There is a large deficit in special educational offers in Berlin. If we are serious about inclusion, something has to happen. We cannot leave children and parents alone.”
