Nelonen Media Live announces the cancellation of its festivals.

Rockfest will not be held next year. Julius Konttinen

Finland’s largest rock festival Rockfest has been canceled from summer 2026.

According to the Nelonen Media Live announcement, the decision is based on increased costs for program content and festival production. According to the release, the number of festivals and ticket sales have not developed as desired.

In addition, the festival has been a challenge to get big main performers and the challenge has been created by the competition situation of the same genre.

– We will not close the opportunity to organize an event in the future. For example, in the form of partnership or other collaboration, a functional model is created on an economically sustainable basis, the release states.

Rockfest was first held in 2017 in Vantaa. The first event attracted 50,000 visitors.

Rockfest was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic. In addition, the festival was canceled in 2024. Last year, the festival was first held in Turku, when it attracted more than 35,000 visitors.

Nelonen Media Live announces that the Rauma Sea Midsummer Festival will also be canceled for next summer. This decision is also justified by the increase in the cost of event production and that the number of visitors and ticket sales have not evolved as desired.
