Truck driver Harry Duinkerken from Hoogeveen does not have to pay a fine for running a red light on the Friesestraatweg in Groningen. His wrongful conviction is revoked.
Dunkirk ran a red light on the instructions of two traffic controllers. At that time, they controlled traffic on that part of the Friesestraatweg, but the speed camera was not switched off and was doing its job neatly. Dunkirk later received a ticket of 259 euros to his amazement via his boss.
When traffic controllers are deployed, the traffic lights are usually switched off completely. The Public Prosecution Service is still investigating why this did not happen in this case: “It is not yet clear to us why traffic controllers have been here. violation where the traffic controllers cannot be seen.”
A total of six drivers were wrongly issued a ticket for running a red light on Friesestraatweg. All fines will be revoked.
