An interception system contains information about persons or organizations that are being intercepted. Interception involves intercepting communications from persons or organizations. This involves, for example, listening in on telephone conversations or reading messages sent via text message, chat or e-mail. Wiretapping only takes place under strict conditions and only on orders from the public prosecutor and the intelligence and security services.

An interception system contains state secret or criminal information and therefore strict security requirements apply. This applies to access to the automated interception systems and measures to prevent unauthorized persons from gaining access to information in the system.
Security plan
The investigation took place in 2021 and 2022. The RDI then concluded that the security was inadequate. For example, Odido did not have a legally required security plan and the personnel who had access to the systems were not properly screened. Persons who were not charged with processing interception data also had access to that information and it was determined that the digital access security of the systems was insufficient.
Odido has now renewed the tapping system.
