final German tour – videos, set list, stage outfits

On Thursday evening, April 27th, Elton John could be seen live for the very last time in Munich’s Olympiahalle, at the 295th appearance of his farewell tour. The 76-year-old is currently on his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour and will then withdraw from the music business, at least from the live business. In Germany there will be ten more last concerts:

  • Munich, April 27, 2023: Olympic Hall
  • Hamburg, May 2, 4 and 5, 2023: Barclays Arena
  • Berlin, May 8, 10 and 11, 2023: Mercedes-Benz Arena
  • Mannheim, May 13, 2023: SAP Arena
  • Cologne, May 16, 18 and 19, 2023: Lanxess Arena

His band, consisting of drummer Nigel Olsson, guitarist and band leader Davey Johnstone and percussionist Ray Cooper, are also there – and have been since the 70s. The tour began in Allentown, Pennsylvania on September 8, 2018 and will conclude in Stockholm on July 8, 2023. It’s John’s last (and, for sure, most commercially successful) itinerary and includes more than 300 concerts worldwide.

Elton John’s Farewell to Munich: Setlist and Stage Outfits

Elton John played 24 of his most successful songs in Munich. In the meantime, however, he moved cautiously across the stage – after all, he has had hip surgery. He started the concert in a sparkling silver jacket and blue glasses. Meanwhile, in the back of the stage, fans could see photos and videos of the musician’s career on a video wall. The highlight of Sir Elton Hercules John, CH, CBE’s second outfit, as the pianist can be called by his full name, was to be pink glasses with sparkling stones. And for the encore he chose a pink bathrobe.

These songs were performed:

  1. “Bennie and the Jets”
  2. “All the Girls Love Alice”
  3. “I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues”
  4. “Border Song”
  5. “Tiny Dancers”

Most successful tour of all time

“billboard” announced on January 30, 2023 that Elton John has grossed $817.9 million from his 278 performances to date. That’s more than any other tour since numbers have been collected for it. So far, no act has managed to break the 800 million mark. Ed Sheeran previously ranked first with his Divide Tour ($776.4 million).
