In recent years, Greekpoor’s life has mainly taken place outside the Netherlands. The North Hollander lives out of his suitcase and travels the world for all kinds of competitions. “When I get back, I try to visit my parents in Nieuw-Vennep. Sometimes it’s nice to be at home for a while. Then I’m also very busy. But I’m also happy when I can go to the Netherlands again. It’s so incredibly busy with everything and everyone you have to see and do.”
Compete with the top
In the past year, Greek Spoor regularly played against world top players. Very often even. “I saw a list that said that I had played against the most top-3 and top-5 players. That’s not entirely the intention. At a certain point I was a bit fed up with it, because I kept getting into them early. against the tournament.”
Greek Spoor had its best year ever at the Grand Slam tournaments. At Wimbledon he failed in the second round and at Roland Garros, the US Open and the Australian Open he reached the third round. Nevertheless, the feeling that he did not perform to his full potential prevails with Greekspor. “A solid year. There were no real outliers.”
