The new Regulations for Players’ Agents (FFAR) approved by the FIFA Council in December will come into force next Monday. As the world association announced on Friday, the regulations mark “an important step towards a fairer and more transparent football transfer system”. Among other things, players’ agents will have to acquire a FIFA license in the future in order to be able to officially operate on the market.
According to FIFA, the new regulations provide basic standards for players’ agents and their customers. In addition to a licensing obligation, a ban on multiple representations is to be enforced and brokerage fees are to be limited.
After being approved by the FIFA Council in December 2022, the new FIFA Football Intermediary Regulations will come into force on Monday 9 January 2023, marking an important step towards a fairer and more transparent football transfer system.
The world association expects more “contractual stability”, better protection of the “integrity of the transfer system” and more financial transparency. However, there is a transitional period until October 1st for the licensing requirement and the restriction of brokerage fees.
