The FIFA World Football Association will increase its provision premiums for the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico in the coming year compared to the 2022 final round in Qatar. According to FIFA, the clubs are to be compensated for a total of around 300 million euros for the provision of their players. Following the 2022 World Cup, the Association had distributed $ 209 million (according to today’s exchange rate 177 million euros) to 440 clubs from 51 countries.
“The expansion of the FIFA program for the participation of clubs for the 2026 World Cup means an even more pronounced financial recognition of the enormous contribution that so many clubs and its players around the world will make both the qualification and the final round of the World Cup,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The compensation height negotiated the FIFA with the European Club Association (ECA). It was stated that the clubs are also involved in the tournament revenue for the first time, the players of which were only used in the qualification.
“We at ECA are pleased that together with the FIFA we were able to design this innovative new program to participate in clubs,” said ECA chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi: “It will be ensured that even more clubs all over the world will be rewarded for the parking of players.”
