The official match ball for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is called “Al-Rihla”. The name, which translates to “journey”, was announced by world governing body FIFA and partner Adidas on Wednesday shortly before the group stage draw on Friday.

The World Cup begins on November 21st, the final is scheduled for December 18th. The ball represents “high-speed football as it moves faster in the air than any other ball in the history of the tournament,” FIFA wrote. (dpa)
