Fielmann increases profitability with cost reductions

Thanks to cost savings in the first half of the year, the Fielmann optics group has become more profitable in its operating business.

Based on preliminary figures, sales in the first six months increased by 13 percent to 966 million euros, as the SDax company announced on Thursday in Hamburg. Meanwhile, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) climbed 21 percent year-on-year to EUR 207 million. This corresponds to an operating margin of 21 percent and thus one percentage point better than in the previous year. Earnings before taxes (EBT) also increased by 21 percent to EUR 108 million, far exceeding average analyst expectations.

Fielmann confirmed its forecast for the current year. Group sales are expected to grow between 7 and 10 percent in 2023. In terms of operating profit, the group is aiming for an increase of 9 to 21 percent. (dpa)
