Fidan Ekiz also slaughters Frans Timmermans on TV: ‘Idle narcissist!’

Following Jeroen Pauw, Fidan Ekiz also went live on television at prime ministerial candidate Frans Timmermans. “It’s narcissism, it’s vanity. He has no moral compass.”

Frans Timmermans wants to lead the joint list of PvdA and GroenLinks for the parliamentary elections. He has the ambition to become the new prime minister of our country, but many people consider him completely unsuitable. One of them is Jeroen Pauw, who completely slaughtered the politician on television on Thursday evening.

Fidan praises Jeroen

The tough words that Jeroen spoke in Renze Klamer’s talk show earn him praise, but many people are also angry with him. They accuse him of demonizing the politician.

What does Fidan Ekiz think? She responds The Orange Summer: “I really like it. I also let Jeroen know that. And why is it good? Of course you hear all kinds of things about him in recent days and he gets quite a lot of hate, to put it mildly, Frans Timmermans. But what Jeroen is doing here: this is just purely factual.”

Oxygen mask

Jeroen believes that Frans told lies in 2014 during his speech at the UN Security Council about the MH17 disaster. “He gave the impression that those people were still holding hands before the rocket hit, so in short: that they were aware of what was going to happen,” summarizes Fidan.

According to Frans, one of the passengers wore a face mask. Fidan: “Later that was all dismissed as nonsense, because the oxygen mask was not on the face of the victim, but I think it was hanging around his neck and that is not surprising, is it, if something like that happens. Then those things come loose and you name it.”

Narcissism

Frans has gone too far with that, Fidan agrees. “For the relatives, this was of course shocking that he just suddenly told something that no one knew and even worse: that he did it out of a form of narcissism, vanity or whatever you want to call it. He can be so nice, no doubt, but then you really have no moral compass.”

She clarifies: “These are not Jeroen’s words and I am not putting that in his mouth, but that is my interpretation. What Jeroen is doing here is purely factual. People say: ‘Can Jeroen still lead the election debate?’ Then I think: why not? (…) He just states the facts! That’s what a journalist does, isn’t it?”

Nice guy

Fellow table guest Sander de Kramer thinks that Frans suffers from narcissism and the urge to prove. “Of course it is super, super ugly that he is just flat out lying. I think we are all a bit done with that.”

Caroline van der Plas did not want to be tempted to say too ugly things about Frans. “Personally I think he’s quite a nice man. I’ve spoken to him a few times now and it actually went quite relaxed. He is quite a nice man, but politically I think he is really a horror.”
