Feyenoord wants to add 44-year-old Said Bakkati to the technical staff for next season. In Rotterdam they take into account the departure of Etienne Reijnen, who is assisting head coach Robin van Persie this season.

Liverpool, just like two years ago, is investigating the possibility of signing Reijnen. Two years ago, when Arne Slot moved from Feyenoord to Anfield, Reijnen did not yet have the right papers to work in England.

The former player of AZ, FC Groningen and PEC Zwolle, among others, hopes to be able to sign with the English superpower now that he has almost obtained the second highest coaching diploma. Because Feyenoord is also taking into account the departure of René Hake, who is interested in several clubs, the club is urgently looking for reinforcement for the technical staff of head coach Robin van Persie.

Bakkati (44) is known as an excellent cross-country trainer. This season he assists Maurice Steijn at Sparta while he also assists Michael Reiziger’s Dutch Juniors. Earlier in his career, the ex-player of Heerenveen, ADO Den Haag, Go Ahead Eagles, PEC Zwolle and Emmen worked as an assistant trainer at various clubs.

At Emmen he was a youth coach, at Jong Ajax he assisted Andries Ulderink and at Reading, PEC Zwolle and Feyenoord he was Jaap Stam’s right-hand man. When he left De Kuip, Bakkati continued to work in De Kuip under his successor Dick Advocaat. He ended up at Sparta via Cincinnati, ADO Den Haag and Ajax.

At Ajax, Bakkati, whose son Amar plays for Jong Cambuur, worked under head coaches John van ‘t Schip and Steijn. At Sparta he was able to extend his expiring contract with a multi-year contract, but Feyenoord is hopeful that he will ignore that proposal and choose Rotterdam South.
