Raheem Sterling was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. The 31-year-old winger, who played for Feyenoord for the past six months, was involved in a single-vehicle accident in England with his Lamborghini. That reports TheSun.

Sterling crashed his car on the M3 in Hampshire, a motorway in England. According to police, the attacker crashed into a guardrail at 9 a.m. No one was injured. The driver, according to TheSun so Sterling, was arrested. He has now been released on bail pending investigations.

The Englishman would be suspected of driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving, possession of a class C drug (for example nitrous oxide or GHB) and refusing to take a breath test.

Only one assist

The 31-year-old Sterling was presented in February as a surprising addition to Feyenoord. Expectations around the 82-time England international were high, but he disappointed greatly in De Kuip. In eight Premier League matches, it was limited to one assist. He has been a bench holder in recent weeks.

Feyenoord has therefore decided not to extend his expiring contract. Sterling previously caused a stir at Liverpool and Manchester City in particular. He also played for Chelsea and Arsenal. He flopped in particular at the latter club.

Sterling does not yet have a new club for next season.
