103,740 travelers traveled from Groningen Airport Eelde last year. That is more than four percent less than a year earlier. It makes the year 2024 one of the worst since Corona.

In 2023, 108,535 travelers opted for a flight from Eelde. In the period 2014 to 2020, the year that Corona broke out, the numbers of travelers were above 150,000 travelers.

Last year it was possible to fly on holiday destinations Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Kos, Antalya, Alanya and Crete. That was comparable to the offer a year earlier. New last summer were a few flights to the Bulgarian coast.

Since Corona, Groningen Airport Eelde is no longer able to get the old figures. In 2019, for example, 176,022 travelers flew from the Drents Airport, even 228,698 people a year earlier. That has to do with the disappearance of some fixed lines to Copenhagen, Munich and London.

Director Meiltje de Groot was not available for a response.

A total of 76.2 million aviation passengers traveled from one of the five national airports in the Netherlands last year. That is almost 7 percent more than in 2023, but 6 percent less than in 2019, for the Coronapandemie.

Within the Netherlands, Schiphol in particular is doing well as an airport. She had a growth in the number of passengers of around 8 percent last year. At Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Maastricht Aachen Airport, growth was minimal, at Eindhoven Airport the number of travelers decreased slightly.
