Last week, for the first time in more than six months, fewer people died than is normal for this time of year. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) points to the lockdown, the booster campaign and the presumably less deadly omikron variant as possible causes. But whether that really is the cause remains to be seen. The researchers do not yet have the data with which to demonstrate this.
