After a seven -year break, a number of foreign star chefs will arrive in Turku, as the Food & Fun food event is returning. Its aim is to invite Turku, Finns and international good food lovers to the city.

Producer Jouni Kuru states in the announcement that there have been more and more inquiries after the festival.

“This created the belief that the right thing would be done,” Kuru continues in the release.

According to him, the program includes visiting chefs’ menus in restaurants, surprising tasting, professional website programs, and cultural events.

The festival offers, among other things, a rare taste experience when a Blue FIN tuna of about one hundred pound ends up with top chefs. It is also unique to the fact that the fish has grown with Finnish herring.

There is an increasing export of herring abroad from Finland, where it is used for many purposes, including tuna feeding, according to the release.

Each year, the West Coast Fish offers 5,000 to 6,000 tonnes of herring to Spain, Croatia and Australia.

– We have been taking Finnish herring for more than a decade, but in recent years the quantities have risen significantly, says CEO Aarne Paesalu in the bulletin.

The tuna raised in the Mediterranean ends mainly in Japan and elsewhere in Asia, only a small proportion of them remain in Europe. Now one one hundred -pound Blue FIN Tuna is brought to Finland, especially for the Food & Fun event in Turku.

The tuna will be cut into pieces on the eve of the event at a Karu restaurant in Turku, an entrepreneur, a chef Valtteri Willberg He specializes in Japanese cuisine and especially sushi.

Some of the tuna is served as part of the restaurant Karun Food & Fun, which is implemented by an American chef visiting the restaurant team with the restaurant team Jonah. Some of the fish will go on sale at the Kalai movement Herkkunuotta in the Turku Market Hall.
