Festivalderaa was back on old land this weekend. Last year the festival went to a new place in the back garden of Peter de Boer, but the old location also got this edition a little love. An ‘intimate concert’ was given on the old festival site.

“It is a bit of an ode to our old festival site. We do that with classical music, that needs little technology and we are gone again very quickly,” says Vanja van Guldener, artistic director of the festival. Due to, among other things, nitrogen rules, the festival had to move. “Maybe it is possible here again, but then smaller or different. It remains the most beautiful place in Schipborg.”

The festival was celebrated on the old place for almost ten years. But the new location also works well. Van Guldener: “We can keep almost anything as it was, so I hear good stories that people experience it the same as then.”

The festival site is built between the flowers and the bees. “It’s very nice here, very bright and there are all kinds of different people and lots of different music. It’s super fun,” says visitor Alja from Hardenberg. In addition to two stages, visitors can get a tour or eat or drink something.

With performances by, among others, Hannah Mae, Leon Moorman and Pé and Rinus, there is something to experience in the musical just for both young and old. But a special program has also been put together for younger visitors. This way they can go to a performance by Circus unstable or get to know the scouting, be painted or tinker.

The organization hopes for around 9,000 visitors for the entire weekend. And although there is already a lot of supply in the field, Van Guldener also dares to look ahead. “Perhaps visual arts are something we can do with. So artists report you to me. Then we will see what Festivalderaa can mean for your art.”
