In Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner is currently fighting for his next Grand Slam title. On Tuesday, however, the Italian had to cope with a little blow.

The fans of one of the largest tennis stars keep their breath: Shortly before the quarter-finals in Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner deleted a planned training session. The world ranking from Italy did without the burden on Tuesday after injured in the round of 16 against Grigor Dimitrow on the right elbow.

Sinner had already suffered the injury at the beginning of the match. At 40:40 he slipped and overweared his arm. After that, Dimitrov took command and took the lead with 2-0 sets. But in the third round, the Bulgarian had to give up at 6: 3, 7: 5, 2: 2 from Sinner’s perspective because of a chest muscle injury.

However, there is still an all-clear for the upcoming duel with the American Ben Shelton, number ten in the seed list. As the Italian sports newspaper “Gazzetta Dello Sport” reported, an MRI examination did not show any serious injury.

Sinner’s coach Darren Cahill said at “Tennisnow” that his protégé was still on the pitch: “We went into the hall, and Jannik played for 20 to 30 minutes just to get a little feeling for the ball.” It would be fine, added Cahill – after all, you can’t take a day off in Wimbledon.
