Ferrari should first have collected the tire temperature before reducing the tire pressure at Charles Leclerc during the first free training session – but you didn’t have that. “The team representative admitted that this procedure was not observed, which is a violation of Article 30.5 a) of the FIA sports regulations,” says the Commissioner.
Because the incident only occurred in free training, Ferrari gets away without a sporting punishment. In accordance with previous comparable cases, a fine of 5,000 euros was issued.
In terms of training, things went through for the first home game for Ferrari this year. Leclerc landed with 0.475 seconds behind in sixth place and admits that Ferrari will have difficulty keeping up with McLaren.
“To be honest, I have the feeling that the first series of stars will be very difficult,” he struggles. “The second row would be a really good result for us, because at the moment it looks more like the third row – if everything goes well.”
