The German epee fencers have canceled their participation in the team competition in Sochi because of the Russian attacks on Ukraine. The association announced this on Saturday after consulting DOSB President Thomas Weikert. They followed a call from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The team has been at the World Cup in Russia since Wednesday. The German Fencing Association is currently working together with the DOSB and the Federal Foreign Office on a quick return journey for the athletes and their team.
