Felix Magath’s first training session starts late

The first training session under Felix Magath at Hertha BSC started about half an hour late.

The 68-year-old came onto the pitch a few minutes after his team. After a short warm-up, the professionals from the Bundesliga club, which is in danger of being relegated, began to train in two groups, precise passing and movement.

Scottish assistant Mark Fotheringham led a group exercise and took part. He kept giving commands and addressed the players directly.

Magath mostly observed the group exercises. The two professionals Stevan Jovetic and Niklas Stark were initially not on the training ground.

Magath was surprisingly hired as the new Hertha coach on Sunday. The 68-year-old last worked as a Bundesliga coach in 2012.

Under his predecessor Tayfun Korkut, Hertha has not yet won a game this year and has slipped to 17th place in the table.
