He insists that the PP has an outstretched hand and recalls that it has tried to offer the Government proposals to mitigate inflation or alleviate the energy crisis

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóohas reached out this Saturday to the Government to reach an agreement to reform article 49 of the Constitution to replace the term “diminished” by “disabled and has called for it “before the long electoral periods begin.”

He has stated this during his speech at the ONCE Progressive Unity Congress, in which he has called for a pact between the two formations without entering “into other matters in which unfortunately the territorial situation of Spain does not allow progress”.

Feijóo, who at the beginning of his speech stressed that progressivism it is a “broad concept” from which neither he nor his party are excludedhas considered that the reform of article 49 should be launched “immediately” after the endorsement of the Council of State, because it is an issue “on which all of Spain agrees”, he said.

The leader of the popular opposition has contrasted the work of ONCE and the congress that is being held this Saturday as an example that “dialogue is possible” and that “you can share” reflections between parties of different ideologies without renouncing their own ideas and approaches, for which it has stressed that “dialogue is possible”. He has argued that his career at the head of the institutions has been governed by “the philosophy of agreement for the general interests” and has criticized the Government for its lack of dialogue and agreements.

Feijóo has once again affirmed that since he assumed the leadership of the PP has “tried to offer” the Government proposals to mitigate inflation, alleviate the energy crisis or to “deepen judicial independence”, without any agreement having been reached.

For the leader of the PP, today is the day, coinciding with the ONCE conclave, so that the bases can be “established” for “a good agreement” and that both his party and the Government commit to reforming article 49 of the Constitution to “abandon a archaic term, unjust and unworthy” such as “disabled” in favor of the correct one, “disabled”. In this way, Feijóo has insisted that “the hand -of the PP- is outstretched” to “crown this work in this legislature”.

Also taking part in the congress, on behalf of the Executive, are the Ministers of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, and Consumer Affairs, Alberto Garzón.
