(toskanews) – It took place in Rome, in the Salvo D’Acquisto barracks, on oath of loyalty to the Republic by Marshal Federica Brignone. Extraordinary advancement was awarded for exceptional merits achieved in sport. The Italian skier is employed by the Winter Sports Section of the Carabinieri Sports Centre. The leaders of the Army and a representative of the Sports Center took part in the ceremony. Also present were the top leaders of national sport, including the president of CONI and that of FISI.
Brignone returned to competitions after a serious injury suffered in the spring. In 2025 he conquered the Overall World Cup and is among the standard-bearers of Milan-Cortina 2026. «I thank the Corps for the recognition they have given me, which is a career recognition. And this morning’s was too,” he said.
«Athletically speaking, I started training again a while ago and I haven’t done any real training on skis yet, I just put on skis, just to slide. Then I tried my racing skis, therefore real athlete material. We are still missing – he added – the passage of the first training sessions and the first tracks. The sensation is good, in the sense that if I don’t have too much pain I can still lean on it. For now, being a tourist is fine.”
